Hello! I’m pleased to have the opportunity to work alongside the students at Shawnigan Lake School. I have my masters degree in counselling psychology, am a registered clinical counsellor. I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. I am passionate about empowering people to work towards their goals and live a meaningful and healthy lifestyle.
I use a variety of therapy techniques and emphasize the importance of the relationship with the students. I value a holistic and strength-based perspective, including the integration of the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of the student’s lifestyle. I believe growth requires commitment to self, flexibility, and healthy relationships. I provide a safe and supportive space to help students with the changes they are longing for.

Hello!
I’m really glad to be an extended part of the Shawnigan Lake School community and to have the opportunity to meet with, and work alongside, some of the young adults who are seeking counselling support. I have a private therapy practice in the Cowichan Valley, which includes many years of providing counselling services to the local boarding school community, including SLS.
I have a deep respect for who you are, as a young adult. I appreciate the journey you are on at this stage of your life, and I know you want to have a sense of choice, which includes working with a counsellor you can have a genuine connection with. I know that I bring compassion, authenticity, and an optimism to my work (as well as great fidget toys!). To learn more about me I invite you to have a look through my website,

Hi, my name is Eric. I am so excited to be the third counsellor here at Shawnigan Lake School and I have been looking forward to meeting you!
I was born in South Korea but grew up in Vancouver and Victoria. In my free time you can find me outside mountain biking, hiking in nature, enjoying a round of golf and playing ice hockey! My counselling practice stems from a Person-Centred approach where I strive to create a safe place for you to discuss whatever it is you would like to talk about.
If you have any questions about my life, what counselling is, or mental health in general, please don’t hesitate to reach out or say hello.
(Fun fact: I have planted over 150,000 trees in Northern BC as a summer job!)
