Hello! I’m pleased to have the opportunity to work alongside the students at Shawnigan Lake School. I have my masters degree in counselling psychology, am a registered clinical counsellor. I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. I am passionate about empowering people to work towards their goals and live a meaningful and healthy lifestyle.

I use a variety of therapy techniques and emphasize the importance of the relationship with the students. I value a holistic and strength-based perspective, including the integration of the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of the student’s lifestyle. I believe growth requires commitment to self, flexibility, and healthy relationships. I provide a safe and supportive space to help students with the changes they are longing for.

I look forward to working with you as we will find ways to improve your mental health and adjust to challenging life experiences. I provide a welcoming, non-judgmental, and confidential environment for you to share and explore your experiences.

I use an integrated approach, which allows us to collaborate on what will be most helpful for you and what will suit your needs best. My approach includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), person-centred, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Mindfulness-based practices. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, and sport. My experiences have taught me that we can fall into cycles that keep us stuck while our lives continue to move forward. From here, we will work to better understand these cycles, utilize your strengths, set goals, and build resiliency to help facilitate healthy mechanisms to help you move forward.

I have completed a MA in Counselling Psychology and I have a BA in psychology from the University of Manitoba, where I was a student-athlete, Academic and athletic All-Canadian. During my time in Manitoba, I also co-facilitated peer-support groups for stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD and student-athletes. Working with those who are or were involved in sports is an area that is very close to me and an area I am passionate about.

Hello! I’m really glad to be an extended part of the Shawnigan Lake School community and to have the opportunity to meet with, and work alongside, some of the young adults who are seeking counselling support. I have a private therapy practice in the Cowichan Valley, which includes many years of providing counselling services to the local boarding school community, including SLS. I have a deep respect for who you are, as a young adult. I appreciate the journey you are on at this stage of your life, and I know you want to have a sense of choice, which includes working with a counsellor you can have a genuine connection with. I know that I bring compassion, authenticity, and an optimism to my work (as well as great fidget toys!). To learn more about me I invite you to have a look through my website, www.elevatecounselling.ca
