They work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, schools, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private practices. Social workers help people navigate challenges such as mental health issues, physical health, housing, education, relationships, and healthcare, ultimately supporting social detriments of health.

I have spent most of the last 20 years living, working and travelling internationally and immersing myself in multicultural work and life. I have more than 24 years of experience in mental health, international education, learning services/special education and counselling. I love working with educators, immigrants/expatriates, third culture kids (TCK’s) and adult third culture kids (ATCK’s) and neurodivergent people (ADHD/ASD). My name is Kim, and I’m a registered social worker in good standing since 2018. I’m dedicated to helping people navigate systems and support their wellness journey. I take a solution-focused approach, using Dialectical Behaviour Therapy strategies like mindfulness and challenging thought processes to help you reach your goals with confidence.

I work from a client-centered, response-based and trauma informed practice, with a feminist perspective. I have more than twelve years of experience working with women and youth and their families who are coping with the impact of violence, sexualized violence, trauma, anxiety, depression, divorce and other issues. I also run an equine assisted counselling program called the Healing Hearts Therapeutic Riding Program also located in Mill Bay, BC. This equine assisted counselling program also works with a trauma informed lens and includes myself and two equine specialists. I am also an approved Crime Victim Assistance Program provider (CVAP) and a First Nations Health Authority provider (FNHA). I am experienced in working with teenagers and parent/child conflicts.
